Agenda Preview - Brand Summit and India Market Focus

Following last week’s announcement about our ticketing and artist development sessions, here are two more session previews to whet your appetite…

On Saturday 8 March, experts from the world's two biggest promotion companies host a brand summit, Sponsorship: Working with the Big Cats. Jemma Downey (Live Nation) & Paul Samuels(AEG Live) bring together blue-chip brand sectors, including alcohol, fast-moving consumer goods, and telecommunications in a discussion about the future of brand partnerships.
Later that day, the third instalment of our Market Focus sessions on BRIC territories sees us highlight one of the live music world’s most fascinating and burgeoning markets. Chaired by Venkat T Vardhanof DNA Networks, The Market Focus: India has leading promoters and agents working in the region provide a no-nonsense overview of this exciting and expanding frontier.

Showcase Artists Announced

Curious to know which great artists you can catch over the ILMC weekend? Well, in addition to ourAccess All Areas showcases that give delegates free entry to many of the shows taking place around town, the line-ups are now set for two of the showcases taking place at Archangel, just across the road from the Royal Garden Hotel:
On Friday night, The Death-Defying Dutch Impact Sideshow sees Utrecht four-piece Mister & Mississippi, psychedelic rockers Birth Of Joy, national heroes De Staat and ‘superjazz’ outfit Bruut! all take the stage at the Performing Arts Fund and Buma Cultuur-sponsored evening.
With Official Silent Disco, drinks, nibbles, B2B pitches and a host of RFID fun thrown in, it’s going to be one-hell-of-a-party. However, spaces are limited, so email [email protected] to get on the list.
Then, Saturday evening sees The Spectacular Swiss Live Talents Sideshow welcome high energy rockers Hathors, electric duo We Love Machines and retro quintet The Animen. Each band was a finalist in the inaugural Swiss Live Talent competition in Bern in November. Sponsored by Swissamp and with complimentary refreshments and snacks on hand, the event provides an early glimpse of some future Swiss headliners..

Call for Prizes

Are you burdened with a rare signed concert photo, but have no one to give it to? Or a spare hotel room with no one to fill it? Well, help is at hand. ILMC is looking for prizes that can either be won during Sunday afternoon’s Nikos Fund Prize Draw, or bid on via our closed eAuction.
All proceeds go towards our chosen charity, which this year is the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening conditions. All prizes will be gratefully received, and your philanthropy will not go unnoticed. Please email if you have a prize to donate or for further details.

Main Room Topics Announced

While the ILMC agenda spans the breadth of the international concert business, there are certain main-room topics that drive each edition. This year, two of the key meetings are…drum roll please… artist development and the future of ticketing.

At 12:00 on Saturday 8 March, Ticketing: The Futures Market takes a critical look at that ever-difficult topic of artist ticketing, while looking at emerging and future trends in the space. Flanked by innovators and major ticketers from across the globe, our chair Serge Grimaux (Intellitix, CZ) takes the sector to task and asks what we can expect from it over the next 24-48 months.

Later that day, at 16:30, Artist Development: Games Within Frontiers will address the single most important topic facing the live music industry today: the launch, growth and maintenance of an artist’s career both nationally and across borders. As the old circus saying goes, ‘the show must go on’, and the health of the industry’s lifeblood needs ever-changing skills and knowledge.

Our chairs Juha Kyyrö (Fullsteam, FI) and Rense van Kessel (Friendly Fires, NL) have assembled an all-star line-up to discuss international touring and how to future-proof the gifteds' careers.

The full ILMC agenda will be published online and in IQ Magazine in early February. Or stay tuned to these e.News bulletins for more information…

Forthcoming Events at ILMC 26

One of the main aims of the ILMC has always been to bring the industry together and introduce its leading characters to each other - not only in the conference rooms but at all of the different events that we organise. This philosophy still stands today, so here’s a quick whistle-stop tour of the ILMC evening schedule – if there’s nothing here of interest, we’ll eat our red noses…

On Thursday 6 March, The ITB Showcase rocks the Archangel while the Royal Garden Hotel starts to resemble the backstage bar at Reading Festival with the IPM Closing Drinks kicking off the party.

The next night (Friday 7 March), the Death-Defying Dutch Impact Sideshow showcase and party takes place at Archangel, while The World Famous Texas Hold’em Poker Tourney attracts the bluffers and blaggers back at the hotel. Later, The Tiniest Table Football ‘Coupe du Monde’ on Earthcompetition kicks off late in the hotel bar and continues until the early hours…
Saturday evening sees The Spectacular Swiss Live Talents Sideshow at Archangel, while the annualMatch of the Year Football competition attracts the sportsmen among our number and those that just like clowning about on a pitch in England, in March. Also on Saturday, the fabulous Savoy Hotel hosts the Big Top Gala Dinner & Arthur Awards – the pinnacle of the industry’s year, which is followed byThe Karaoke Freak Show back at the Royal Garden Hotel, which could easily feel like a low point by the next morning!
Finally, on Sunday, The ‘Grand Finale’ Closing Drinks wrap up the conference sessions, followed later by The Wild South African Safari Sunday Dinner, which whisks delegates into the heart of Africa itself, and later still by the early-morning Tear Down Bash, which will see the stragglers through until Monday…
For most events, either sign-up when you register, or email [email protected] for more info or if you have already registered for the conference.
