This year’s one-on-one Sunday morning Breakfast Meeting is guaranteed to see bleary-eyed delegates queuing around the block to get in, as live music legend Arthur Fogel takes the hot seat with host and raconteur Ed Bicknell.
 
As chairman of global music and president of global touring for Live Nation, Fogel has consistently set the bar for large-scale tours. Highlights over a 35-year history include producing U2 360° tour (highest grossing tour of all time), Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour (highest grossing tour by a solo artist) and Lady Gaga’s The Monster Ball Tour (highest grossing tour by a debut artist).

As Chairman of Global Music and President of Global Touring at Live Nation Entertainment, Arthur Fogel oversees the company’s music division in its acquisition of global artist tours. Mr. Fogel personally oversees many of Live Nation’s largest tours, and over the years, has produced several of the most successful tours in history.

From 2009 until 2011, Mr. Fogel produced the U2 360° Tour, which became the most successful tour in history for gross sales (735m USD) and attendance (over 7m tickets sold). Additionally, he has produced the Vertigo, Elevation and PopMart tours for the band—spanning the past 15 years.

Mr. Fogel also has a long history with Madonna, having produced each of her last five world tours, including the 2008/2009 Sticky & Sweet Tour, which became the highest grossing tour in history by a solo artist, grossing over 400m USD. In 2012, Mr. Fogel produced Madonna’s The MDNA Tour, which finished as the highest grossing tour of that year.

In 2010, Mr. Fogel became the tour producer for Lady Gaga’s The Monster Ball Tour, the highest grossing tour for a debut artist in history. Mr. Fogel also produced her 2012 Born This Way Ball tour and her most recent tour, ArtRave: The ARTPOP Ball in 2014.

Mr. Fogel produced the worldwide reunion tour for The Police in 2007/2008 and has been Sting’s tour promoter for over 12 years, working on Sting’s critically acclaimed 2014 co-headline tour with Paul Simon.

In addition to being the worldwide tour promoter for David Bowie over the past 25 years, Mr. Fogel has also promoted numerous tours for Neil Young; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; and Rush. In the past two years, Mr. Fogel has also promoted tours for Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Rihanna and Bruno Mars.

Tours in 2015 under Mr. Fogel’s direction will include global treks by U2, Madonna, Lady Gaga & Tony Bennett, Sting & Paul Simon, Rush and Bette Midler.

Mr. Fogel began his promoting career in 1981 with Toronto-based Concert Productions International (CPI), which promoted artists and tours in Toronto and across Canada. In 1986, he was appointed President of the Concert Division at CPI, a position he held until 1995. He subsequently became President of The Next Adventure (TNA), a global touring company formed by the principals of CPI. In 1998 following the acquisition of the company by SFX, he oversaw the global touring division. In 2002, SFX was acquired by Clear Channel Communications where Mr. Fogel ran the Global Touring division. In 2005, the entertainment division was spun off as Live Nation, where Mr. Fogel continues in his duties.
